Ford Model: Fiesta mk4. UK/Ireland Location: Other/NonUK. Posted January 3, 2013. Good evening to all and happy new Year!! Is someone who have some experience on it.
Mk 5 Mondeo Diesel still have the Getrag, Petrol versions have a Ford USA 6F35 torque converter type trans. I only use this site, and up to now only probs reported on Mk5 Getrag probs have actually been faulty EGR valves, and not the trans.
Remove brakes. Mark the hub nut so if you havn't torque wrench you know how tight, wheel on ground loosen. Loosen bolt on hub knuckle holding strut,i bottle jacked the strut out and slightly clamped spring. Remove the track rod using bearing puller. With hub nut removed, bearing puller on the driveshaft spindle removed from hub.
The recommended oil type for a Ford Mondeo is 5W-30 synthetic blend oil. This type of oil provides optimal performance and fuel efficiency, while also protecting the engine from wear and tear. It is important to check the oil level regularly and change the oil every 7,500 miles or once a year.
By the smell of it it is from the engine, not the gearbox, so is just a little leak from the engine driveshaft. seal. Your transmission is not the same as mine. My advice would be to wipe it off and take a look next time you. change the engine oil. After god knows how many years of making engines you'ld think oil leaks were a. thing of the past.

I'm going to be getting a DMF and clutch done shortly and thought I might as well change the gearbox oil as I have read it can help with the mondeo's notchy 1st gear, but most people in the trade say it's pointless. There is supposedly no need to change it as it's a sealed unit and it's fully synthetic oil.
